Mission Statement

The Beacon of Enlightenment, NFP, is normalizing trauma in underserved communities by removing barriers to access and creating safe and relatable spaces for children and adults to thrive. We are dedicated to all individuals and families, especially those individuals who are members of marginalized communities. We are trauma through prevention, intervention, treatment, and education. Our vision is to be a collaborative partner in addressing gaps in access that will lead to a stronger community,

Your Accessibility to Healthcare

Our Approach to Mental Healthcare:
  • We care for the whole person, see the complexity of each person's experience, an believe that addressing the whole experience is the best way to improve mental health.
  • We focus on the services we provide to learn what is needed in the community. We look for voids in mental healthcare, fill those, and move to fill new ones. When other community resources develop to address those needs, we apply our resources differently or collaborate.
  • We believe that providing quality, variety, and accessible mental healthcare to marginalized communities is our reason for establishment.
  • We use a team approach to providing mental healthcare, and respect the client as the captain of their treatment plan.
Our Relationship with the Community:
  • We are committed to serving the community and providing mental healthcare access for marginalized community members.
  • Our staff involvement in the community enhances our ability to provide effective mental healthcare. Improving the community will help improve the mental health of our clients.
  • Partnerships with education, government, and other community organizations will multiply the resources for and the impact of our work.
