Beacon of Enlightenment, NFP, offers four main types of therapy for our clients:
Individual Therapy - Child and Adolescent Therapy - Family Therapy - Art Focused Therapy
Individual Therapy - Child and Adolescent Therapy - Family Therapy - Art Focused Therapy
Individual Therapy
In individual therapy, you will meet with a therapist one-on-one, usually for 50 minutes in a safe, non-judgemental, and confidential environment. Individual therapy allows clients to process personal concerns and work toward a resolution that allows the client to be congruent and empowered.
Individual therapy is a great opportunity for clients to sort out their feelings and become more congruent within themselves. There are many issues which come up in individual therapy, such as: mental illness, parenting, workforce confidence, social confidence, peer relations, and trauma, among others. There is no issue too small for individual therapy. |
Child / Adolescent Therapy
Therapy with youth is directed at teaching life skills with effective problem-solving. Children and adolescents will be learning appropriate communication skills to reach their goals. They are also taught how to align their thoughts, feelings, and behavior to be able to effectively manage social, familial, and educational settings.
Some concerns we work on during child and adolescent counseling are: educational struggles, relational aggression, trauma, family relationships, mental health struggles, legal involvement, social skills, and transitional skills. |
Family Therapy
Family therapy is very beneficial, as it teaches family members how to better relate to one another and be more of a loving team. Family therapy emphasis is on the family as a whole and how each member contributes to the whole to resolve conflict and gain balance. Some of the issues that are explored during family therapy are family roles, expectations, communication, and behavioral therapy.
All members of Beacon of Enlightenment, NFP, are knowledgeable at helping families overcome issues related, but not limited to: divorce/separation, blending families, balancing love and discipline, united front parenting, school related issues, legal involvement, and diverse parenting teams. |
Art Focused Therapy
Why Art Focused Therapy? Therapy that utilizes art allows clients to use their creative selves to develop a deeper connection with self-expression and identity. This gives clients the ability to gain insight into themselves, to develop self confidence, and to develop new coping skills to manage day-to-day struggles.
Art focused Therapy is provided on-site by therapist Michael Young. Michael brings skills such as collage, drawing, painting, printmaking, etc. Michael works to blend his art skills with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person Centered Therapy. Don't worry! There's no need to know "how to do" art therapy, just bring yourself and let's get some great therapeutic art work done. |
